Big Red Challenge 2016 Presented by Mens Health

  • Lincoln, Nebraska (map)

To fund a fellowship and transition program that enables veterans to explore, discover and go all in on their passions by empowering them to embrace new challenges through leadership, a meaningful education, fitness and employment.

Ultimately, we want to make the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and the great state of Nebraska the most veteran friendly place in America.

Background:
Since 2001, the war on terror has become a publicly recognized endeavor and over 50,000 American servicemen and women have been wounded.  Each wounded service member and his or her family must now face challenges which are beyond the experiences of most Americans.  As these wounded men and women begin the tough transition back to civilian life, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the benefits provided to these individuals and the actual costs of obtaining a college education are distinctly different.  The Big Red Challenge wants to provide these individuals the means to successfully complete higher education.
